The Instructional Staff
Section I. General Requirement For Employment
A. Qualifications
It shall be the policy of the school board to employ on the instructional staff only those persons who meet state requirements.
B. Certification
(1) All instructional personnel shall have teaching certificates that legally qualify them for the work to which they are assigned.
(2) All instructional personnel employed in elementary and secondary schools are expected to keep themselves informed of essential instructional improvement through professional study, group discussion, school visitations and travel. Credit hours for travel must first be approved through the superintendent’s office.
Section II. Substitute Teachers
The principals shall maintain an active list of persons qualified to act as substitute teachers. Substitutes shall be properly certified for teaching and shall be paid in accordance with the salary set by the board.
Section III. Instructional Load
The board shall hold the administration responsible for the equitable distribution of work among members of the staff.
Section IV. Contracts
A. All contracts with instructional personnel employed by the board except substitutes shall be in writing and signed by officers as provided by law.
B. It is further stipulated that if a teacher desires to cancel his contract prior to May 1st, a fee of twenty-five dollars shall accompany such request; May 1st to June 1st, fifty dollars; June 1st to July 1st, two hundred dollars; and thereafter three hundred dollars.
